 White Balloon Day in September (child protection week) (7^th to 12^th September 2010)

 

In 1999, White Balloon Day prompted an unprecedented 514% increase in the number of child sexual assault disclosures. This phenomenal figure indicates that White Balloon Day does raise awareness and protects children against sexual assault in Australia. The humble white balloon has been adopted by Bravehearts as symbolic of the issue of child sexual assault. On 20th October 1996 a public meeting was held in Belgium where 300,000 people gathered with white balloons in a show of public sympathy and support for the parents of young girls who were sexually assaulted and were either murdered or missing at the hands of a previously convicted and released paedophile (Marc Dutroux). www.whiteballoonday.com.au

Convoy of 2000 cars, trucks and bikes with Police escort from Brisbane to Gold Coast Show Grounds. Great event, Grand Finale  (end of child protection week) 12^th September 2010.
